Welcome to HOME BASE, a light filled loft in downtown Decorah. With high ceilings and hardwood floors, our space is a mashup of luxury + comfort. Giant front windows face downtown Water Street while the back patio offers a deluxe view of the city baseball diamond and tennis courts, surrounded by the northern bluffs. We created a space that feels invigorating + restful all at once. Close proximity to explore the area attractions, or stay in to cook, read, and take a bath. Home Base is your place. Home Base is a gorgeous loft apartment with beautiful furnishings and thoughtful design. Our curated art and obscure objects conjure stories and memories. The living room is an expansive and beautifully furnished space for conversation and relaxation. Each of the two bedrooms and two bathrooms have their own colorful vibe. Great bedding and unique lighting add to the comfort and function of our space. One of the bedrooms connects to a small room that is perfect for a young child to claim as their special spot to read and rest. This sleeping nook has a toddler sized mattress and fun bedding and pillows. The modern, fully equipped kitchen features a large island with seating and a spectacular view. The patio is a perfect perch for morning coffee or tea, or a moonlit nightcap.

We loved our stay at Home Base! Our kids (5 and 3) were immediately taken with the art, furniture, games, antiques, views, and light-up toilets : ) The children's nook was especially inspiring with its toys, classic children's books, and amazing hand-crafted kid's cabin (where our 3-year old slept). It was such a treat to stay in a place that has been crafted so thoughtfully and artfully. We can't wait to come back!
This place was amazing! It was adorable and incredibly clean. My friend and I were so comfortable and felt like we had a ton of room! We will definitely be staying there again when we head to Decorah or the surrounding area!
This is one of the nicest airbnbs we have ever stayed in. Loved the thoughtful and artistic setting stocked with healthy and environmentally friendly products. It is very spacious and quiet for a downtown setting.
What a beautiful space! High ceilings, tons of natural light in the living room and kitchen, with fantastic art and great houseplants throughout. FYI, there are no windows in the bedrooms/bathroom in the middle of the space, but it’s so well lit and decorated that you don’t really notice. The kids got a kick out of the little hideaway room/bed, and loved listening to jazz on the record player. It was easy to log in to our own Prime account for movie night on the big screen, and fun to play with the board games stocked in the dining room. Side by side bathrooms were super convenient, towels were pristine white and fluffy, and the giant soaking tub was a delight. The location right on Water Street can’t be beat! We loved walking around town to great coffee shops, the nearby co-op, the Norwegian museum, etc. Overall one of the best AirBnbs we’ve stayed in!

Free daytime street parking in front of the loft, free overnight parking in back. Prime location for walking to co-op for groceries, out to restaurants, bars, shopping. "Hometown Taxi" is our dependable local taxi service.
