The Retreat occupies the entire second floor of the brick house which was completely renovated in 2014. Located just 1 block from downtown Decorah and in walking distance to many popular restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, boutiques, and beautiful walking/biking trails. Abundant natural light, 10 ft. ceilings, and full of historic charm with modern conveniences. Master bedroom with king bed and en suite full bathroom. Second bedroom has queen bed. Private den has queen sleeper sofa. Open concept kitchen is perfect for entertaining and fully stocked with utensils, cookware, and dishes. Private, second story deck is accessed via the den. The lower level is home to the popular home decor and gift shop, Rendered Unique. Decorated and styled with many unique finds found in the shop, The Retreat at RU is the perfect girls weekend getaway, a romantic weekend away, family vacation exploring the Driftless, or quiet apartment for your work travel needs. The Retreat is located just one block from downtown Decorah making it a short walk to many restaurants, coffee shops, clothing boutiques, bike trails, and much more!

Absolutely lovely stay at Jamie’s delightful home. Bright and spacious, exquisitely decorated and furnished, very cozy and homey. My husband and two young children had a great Decorah stay in this perfectly located home. The house had two pack and plays and baby gates, all the kitchenware and utensils we’d need, and books and toys for the kids. Very comfortable linens and bedding. Host owns a decor and gift store in town and home is fully appointed with those special touches (great hand soap, quirky kitchen towels, plants etc). highly recommend.
The perfect spot for a girls’ weekend. We loved that we could sit out on the deck in November!
We loved our stay at The Retreat at Rendered Unique! This is the third time we’ve stayed, and it was amazing as always! Jamie is a very helpful and responsive host. The living quarters are spacious and there are lots of amenities provided. We also loved the selection of toys provided for the toddler staying with us. The location is within walking distance to lots of great places downtown. An added bonus is the rooftop deck area, a lovely place to hang out after a long day out and about.
Stayed here for Luther homecoming with a few old friends and loved it. Beautiful and comfortable apartment, even more spacious than the photos suggest. It was a great home-base for us throughout the festivities of the weekend.

The Retreat at Rendered Unique is located on the corner of Water Street & John Street in a quiet residential neighborhood. The Retreat is zoned commercial and is 1 block from downtown Decorah, but is adjacent to residential properties. The home decor store, Rendered Unique, is located on the first level and is open Wednesdays-Saturdays.
The Retreat at Rendered Unique has a paved, private off-street parking lot behind the attached garage. Guests are allowed to park in either stall behind the garage or in any of the spots in the lot. Street parking on John Street is also readily available.
