Relax in this tranquil, stylish space. A romantic bohemian hideaway created by an artist. A very private quirky deck with your own fire pit, BBQ and hammock. No neighbours, only views over the fields on either side. A generous kitchen with new electric cooker, hob and fridge. Stargaze over a glass of wine or lie out in the sun in our large guest garden area. No sound of traffic, only birdsong. A hidden getaway, but perfect for cycling, canoeing and wild swimming in the Waveney valley. The Cabin is a generous size 4 x 8 metres inside and highly insulated, so cosy in the winter and cool in the summer. There is a modern kitchen inside with a large sink and generous under sink fridge/freezer. There is plenty of storage for food and utensils. We have an electric oven/microwave in one with an electric hob. There is a table and 2 chairs for dining, a soft comfortable leather sofa and plenty of lamps and romantic lighting. Hannah has used old original prints of churches in Norfolk on the walls of the bedroom area all lit with magical fairy lights. There is a large comfortable baton lit Kingsized bed with a new mattress and foam topper. The linen is all ironed cotton. An antique hand painted chest of drawers is perfect for clothes and extra blanket storage for clothes. We do have Wifi in the cabin, so that although you might want to ignore it and destress with a glass of wine and a book, you can still play your favourite films if you bring a laptop. Otherwise you can enjoy the 'screen free' experience. We are committed to being eco and having a low impact on our environment so we have created a compost loo. It is a dry system so no bad smells - not like at festivals!! And totally eco friendly! There is also a heated shower in our funky corregated shower room, which feels like a tree house. The way is lit up at night with solar fairy lights so that you can see your way to the toilet, which is very close to the cabin on the other side of the deck. There are also 2 small steps up to the bathroom and toilet cabin. There will be eco liquid soap products so that we create no pollution in the local rivers.
I had a wonderful weekend stay in the cabin, it had everything I needed and was well stocked and clean. It was private and peaceful which was just what I needed - the occasional noise from sheep and chickens. the local area was lovely too and Hannah had left very detailed lists of local places to visit. I will definitely be visiting again!
We had the best stay at the Woodman's Cabin! The cabin itself is so beautiful and all the little unique touches really make it something special. Hannah was a super lovely, communicative and informative host. The location is so tranquil and perfect for an escape from the hustle and bustle. I couldn't recommend it enough, we are already planning to go back, for longer this time as there is so much to do!
Couldn’t have been anymore thrilled with our stay. Beautiful little place to unwind, had everything and more to make us comfortable and Hannah really has thought of everything. One of the most thorough welcome packs I had ever seen and felt incredibly welcome. More than worth the money we paid which was ridiculously reasonable and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! The place was very cozy and we felt at home straight away. Hannah made sure we had everything we needed and had kindly left some fresh homemade apple juice and milk in the fridge for us to use, as well as a folder full of useful information on places to visit around the area. The location is lovely and peaceful, with some friendly sheep as neighbours and lovely walks across nearby fields. Highly recommended!
Pretty rural village, with a cricket pitch and no through traffic. No traffic sounds, no light pollution and the city only 20 minutes away. Just the sound of birds, sheep and the occasional tractor. Topcroft is the home of the original 'Paston letters' detailing rural life in the 1500's. Margery Brewes wrote: "To my well beloved Valentine" under the mulberry tree at Topcroft Hall.
Sadly, no pub in the village, but we have social club opposite us on the Playing field, on Friday nights and weekends in the summer. There is often cricket on summer evenings, which you can watch over a cheap pint and friendly locals too. No need to drive! Or a 5 min drive to Bungay and Harleston, where there are great pubs, cafe's and restaurants. We are close to the Broads for river trips from Beccles and Wroxham. If you like boutique shops we are a stones throw from trendy Bungay, with it's famous deli, art shop, cafe's and antique shops. Many people come here for the wild swimming and great canoeing spots on the river Waveney (10 mins away).
There is free parking near to the cabin for your car. But If you chose to cycle here there is not much traffic on the back lanes and the Waveney valley is beautiful for cycling with not too many hills! You can take a train to Norwich or Diss and then get a taxi here. (1/2 an hour from either). Or you can take a bus from Norwich to Woodton and then bicycle (10-15 minutes) to Topcroft.
We are 5 minutes by car from our local off license and shop in Hempnall, which is open til late, as well as a bountiful farm shop (5 minutes car ride) just past Woodton called Old Hall Farm shop, filled with delicious local produce from the farm: raw milk, local cheeses, local wines and homemade pizzas, aswell as a cafe. There is one bus (84) which stops outside our drive to Norwich every day at 7 and 10 am. It which returns later in the day. But buses every hour through the day to Woodton or Hempnall from Norwich.
Having a car is easiest around here but cycling eco-warriors are welcome!
We have very little traffic around here as we have no through traffic. But about 25 mins from Norwich, 10 mins to Bungay and Harleston and about 30 mins from Beccles, all on the Waveney river.
