Chagford · 帐篷 · 1室1床0.5卫 · 可住5人 · Yellands Farm Dartmoor Glamping - Home Bewdown
Stay under the stars in our luxurious 5-metre bell tent enjoying the best view of Dartmoor. You'll be pitched in your own field (Home Bewdown) at Yellands Farm, facing down toward the River Bovey and looking across the open moor towards Hound Tor and Haytor in the distance. Yellands Farm sits on the southern slope of Meldon Hill, just south of Chagford. The historic farm buildings date from the seventeenth century. The hedgerows and banks are lined with oak, ash, field maple, rowan and blackberries. We have five tents, each pitched in its own south-facing field of 3-5 acres, rich in wild flowers and alive with butterflies. The 5-metre bell tent in Home Busdown field contains a double bed with all linens provided and two fold-out foam beds suitable for younger children; extra single beds or fold-out beds can be added to suit your group. Outside the tent, there is a fire pit for cooking (when the weather is not too windy or dry), with running water in the neighbouring field. Parking is up near the farmhouse, where you'll also find a communal field kitchen, fridge, outdoor shower and composting toilet. There is also a camp shop selling a few necessaries (baked beans, marshmallows...), our own fresh eggs, homemade bread, ready-to-heat stews and ice cream. We sometimes run pizza nights and pop-up suppers in the threshing barn, which we'll take bookings for in advance. We have lots of basics in the camp kitchen (pots and pans, kettle, crockery, cutlery). We ask you to bring: * your own equipment for fireside cooking (or hire a kit from us) * folding chairs / camping table / picnic rugs * towels * sleeping bags or bedding for the kids (or ask us to provide) * extra blankets (if you worry about being cold) * torches
The location is so peaceful with beautiful views and good walks from the farm. My tent was immaculate with lovely bedding and the bed itself was incredibly comfortable. Despite a massive thunderstorm raging in the small hours of the morning the tent felt cosy and I felt safe and secure. Susan is a warm, welcoming and friendly host and she was incredibly helpful and resourceful when one of my dogs fell ill. You can feel the care that the hosts put into having a minimum impact on the environment. I loved my stay and I look forward to going back for a longer visit.
We had a wonderful stay at Yellands. We were greeted with such warmth on arrival, despite the evening drawing in. Susan generously lent us her head torch so we could see in the dark ! Our bell tent was perfect. Fresh flowers and lovely linen were very much enjoyed. Stunning location & great facilities.
What a warm welcome we were given! The views from the Tent were idyllic. The Tent was immaculate and homely! Thank you for a wonderful break away 😌
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful site, the tents are spaced out across the farm so we had the luxury of a whole wildflower meadow to ourselves, glorious views across the valley, our own fire pit to toast marshmallows, stare at the stars and listen to the sounds of the countryside and so much space for the children to run free! The communal areas for cooking, washing etc. are well arranged to make the most of the setting and there is the option to cook in the barn or out in the open. The hosts were so welcoming, helpful and hospitable, a lovely family who made sure we had everything we needed - we really hope we can make it down to stay here again one day!
The stannery town of Chagford is five minutes' drive or half an hour's walk over Meldon Hill. Chagford has a bakery, a butcher, three pubs, several restaurants and a surprisingly wide range of independent shops including a wine shop, a deli and a dairy. The Beachwood Bakery was recently listed in the FT as one of the fifty best independent food shops in the world! It also has a heated outdoor swimming pool fed directly by the Teign river. But if you prefer to stay at home, you can walk straight out from your tent to the Bovey river, five minutes away, with wild swimming and a rope swing and plenty of flat space on the bank for picnics. Or walk across the valley where the remains of a bronze age village sit inside a granite wall at Grimspound. The whole of Dartmoor with its granite tors and ancient woods, its rivers and wild open spaces, is right in front of you and all around you, either a few minutes away on foot or a short drive by car, along with Dartmoor's beautiful villages and towns, churches, restaurants, pubs and unrivaled diversity of wildlife.
