Welcome to Valley Mills Miller's Cottage, where the beauty of "Mother Nature" surrounds you. Built six years after Iowa became a state in 1847, it is located in a remote picturesque valley containing Buck Creek Trout Stream. It is completely surrounded by wooded Bluffs, known as "Cold Slopes". With its two acre park like area, it is an ideal place for families to let their Kids/pets freedom to roam. It is "Nature Therapy" at it's best. The area is a remote paradise of nature. Ideal for families, reunions and "Get togethers" with plenty of places for guest to roam and entertain inside and out. Front Family Room is modern with fireplace , ceiling fan, picture window view of valley and garden, and 50" LCD Satellite TV. Rest of cottage is quite rustic in appeal, including wood stove and LP kitchen range (1940 Chambers), but has somewhat modern kitchen conveniences including refrigerator, toaster, microwave, and coffee maker,

Charming house in a beautiful location, with very responsive and friendly hosts. It would be perfect for a family -- there was a whole floor in the house we didn't use. I loved the neighborhood cows wandering down their path, and sightings of deer. The house is well-equipped except for WiFi (none), phone service, and entertainment options. Big TV connected to a Dish but only a few unwatchable channels and no way of getting any more—small TV upstairs with a VHS and a few vintage tapes. Great location for walking dogs -- we have two -- but the yard is fenced to keep cows and deer out, not dogs in. Barbed wire, so we didn't feel comfortable letting ours off the leash, for fear they would want to investigate the cows on the other side and get themselves cut up. Shop before you come because there are only gas station convenience stores in Garnavillo -- the next town is a twenty-minute drive.
This was our second visit to the cottage. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The weather was beautiful and bugs were not an issue. Even though the temperatures dropped into the 30’s one night, the cottage kept our party of 9 comfortable. Norma made sure we had everything we needed, and assured us she was just a phone call away if we needed anything. Hope we can arrange to make it back again soon!

Our stay was great .the fishing was good ,plenty of room, was clean had everything we needed we will stay there again in the future
Grew up in Garnavillo and this place was amazing! Perfect for peace and quiet but yet a creek and crows crossing from the bed room window! Clean and the bedrooms are great! Deck and bone fire pit are perfect so see the moon and stars. Loved it all!

Location is remote and at the end of a "Dead End" gravel road (4 wheel drive recommended in winter) . Closest neighbor lives 1/2 mile away. Only traffic are Trout Fishermen, who park next to Trout Stream. Their parking area is outside fenced in Cottage and Mill.
Hiking Trails at Pikes Peak State Park (Free), Effigy Mounds National Park, plus many County Hiking Trails all within 20 miles.
Garnavillo 2 miles (one restaurant - (Thoma's), two taverns, 3 gas stations (two auto repair and one Convenience Shop). Elkader or Guttenberg 10 miles ( Grocery, Bakery, gift shops).
Mississippi River Towns: Clayton 7 miles, Guttenberg 10 miles, (Hospital), McGregor 15 miles, Prairie du Chien, WI, 20 miles.
