We had a great stay at the garden apartment over the New Year. Perfect for two with everything you could possibly need. Great to have such a well equipped kitchen in particular. Rosemary and Chris are helpful, friendly hosts and the location is brilliant if you like great views, good walking (including from the door), good local pubs and interesting history. The weather wasn't great for us but that didn't stop us from having a lovely time. Thanks for the recommendation to visit the National Stone Centre and see the Millennium Wall - it was as fascinating as you said! :)

This cosy little cottage located right on the River Derwent has everything you need for a break from your daily life. The bedroom is blissfully dark and quiet, (perfect if you are not the best sleeper). The access to footpaths and bridleways from here is perfect if you like the great outdoors. The small kitchen has everything you need to cook proper meals for yourself (unlike many AIRBNBs). The shower is hot and strong and the little bathroom is perfect. The heating works really well and can be felt really quickly when you turn it on. I would recommend this little flat for a getaway for anyone who wants to explore the Derwent Valley, or just enjoy the feeling of being out of the way. I would happily come back here and probably would choose to stay longer next time.

Cosy and well organised space that enabled us to have a very comfortable 3 week stay. The apartment was well-equipped, quiet and restful. Rosemary was very welcoming and hospitable. Plenty to do in the immediate area and a good base for exploring further afield. We would be very happy to stay again.

A tiny but beautiful cottage in a gorgeous garden, tucked away so privately that I didn't even feel like I needed to lock the door. Ideal for a woman travelling alone. Rosemary was the kindest, most attentive host I've had, coming in to clean and change sheets and towels every week, even leaving fruit from the orchard and eggs from the ducks and hens in the garden! Much recommended. Thank you Rosemary!
