We spent four months in the Bunk House--two senior adults, two little dogs, and a cat. Erin and the people at the farm could not have been kinder. They responded to our every request. The Bunk House is a three bedroom, bath and a half apartment in an historic farm house. It is undeniably old farmhouse living, but it has all the necessities, plenty of space, and updated kitchen and baths. For us, the location was perfect.
We had a wonderful time with a wonderful unique setting! Check in was easy, Erin was great at answering questions, prior to arrival. It is close to downtown and also to the farmers market. The Hubbell Family Farm Market sells the MOST delicious Meats, fresh eggs & Bacon & the best chocolate milk I ever had. Bought Bacon, sausage & pork chops to take home!! You will not be disappointed. It was a lovely time Our son in law loved fishing in the pond & being in the country. It is a true reminder how hard our farmers work for our fresh food!
Our host, Erin, was very kind and was able to accommodate us immediately on short notice. The house is located in a very quiet area and you can relax and enjoy the view outside. It is also great that there is no TV. The heating works very well and keeps you warm during the winter months. The kitchen was spacious and comfortable. You can buy eggs and meat at the farm store next door. There is no washing machine, so you will need to go to the laundry if you are staying for a long time. The shower was very comfortable. Inside the house I used slippers because the floor is cold in winter. My favorite thing about my stay here was that the water was really good anyway. Thank you Erin!
The house is exactly as described - you are definitely on a working farm! We enjoyed seeing the animals in the mornings and touring the cider mill. The kitchen is large and great for cooking, however the room with the couch is separate from the kitchen so it wasn't as conducive to hanging out as a group while cooking as we would have liked. The location is very close to the quaint town of margaretville which has everything you need for groceries, restaurants, and cute shopping. A few things to note for future guests before you book! 1) If you're staying in the fall/winter the radiators are pretty loud (not any worse than what I have in NYC), and the one in the small bedroom leaks which woke us up in the middle of the night 2) This is a pet friendly listing which our dogs loved, but one of my friends (who is not allergic to dogs) was struggling with allergies while in the house, likely because of cats having been in the house. So if you're allergic to cats I'd look elsewhere, as there are also a couple barn cats roaming the property - one of which snuck by us and got into the house! 3) it's clear in the listing but just so others are fully aware - there is only one bathroom (fine for 4 people), and there is no TV (but great wifi!!) Overall staying here was a unique experience that we enjoyed, but there were a few unexpected quirks that I thought others should be fully aware of!
Hubbell Family Farm是
自我介绍
Hubbell Family Farm was established in 1848. Throughout the generations, our family has worked hard to provide services to our local community by adapting to the changing needs of our customers. Today we continue to operate our farm raising Scottish highland cattle, berkshire pigs, and free range egg-laying chickens, all available for purchase in our rental shop on-site. In addition we offer tours of our century-old cider mill which still presses on the fall weekends. In the spring we make fresh maple syrup also available for purchase. Our scheduled tours take place throughout the year so make sure to contact us! Also stay tuned for our upcoming lisiting that will allow you to stay at our farm location for a weekend trip. My name is Erin Hubbell and I co-host The Cabin in the Woods with the owners of the property, my aunt & uncle, Barbara and Rudd Hubbell. Each of us play a role in hosting to ensure the quality & comfort of your stay. Come and experience a unique way to relax and unwind in nature.
