we made very last minute change of plans to travel to Maine for the total solar eclipse due to forecasted cloudiness in Texas - luckily Nick and Josh's place was available. It was a perfect place to stay for us - I wish we had more time to sit and enjoy the serene lakeside setting. Nick and Josh were very responsive and helpful. We would love to return and be able to spend some time in this wonderful house on a gorgeous lake - it was lovely. Much appreciated - thank you Nick and Josh.

We love Nick and Josh’s beautiful cottage! It is clean, well stocked, and beautifully laid out & decorated. Everything you need is on hand, from games to snacks to the crackling fire! Nick & Josh are great hosts & think of everything. Hope to be back soon!

Joshua's house is beautiful. It's probably the cleanest AirBnB I've ever stayed in (and that makes it easier to relax and enjoy). The home is lovely and well-decorated, and there is no clutter. All the little touches and amenities have been well thought out. Even the laundry room is a nice space. There was plenty of space for our family of 4 both inside and out. The house is very close to the lake, and the lake is clean and beautiful. You can walk to the Lakewood Theater and Restaurant, and people in the area are friendly. The town of Skowhegan is a quick drive, which is nice if you need anything (i.e., large grocery store, movie theater, hospital, etc.) Joshua is also very communicative and responsive and answered any questions we had.

The Madison House fit the description on airbnb very well - 6 of us fit nicely in the roomy living room - plenty of comfortable seating. There also was a thorough "book" about the home and its surroundings, and its fascinating history. We went to a play that we walked to the first night we were there, at Lakewood Theater, which was fun. We used the 2 kayaks provided at the house several times - the lake was beautiful, as were the surroundings - beautiful flower gardens, quaint cottages in the Lakewood community - very special. We loved sitting on the morning sun-filled deck for sipping coffee. Some of us played golf on the Lakewood golf course - fun! The only drawback to the Madison House was that it wasn't near good restaurants - Skowhegan was a little "sketchy" - looked like it had seen better days. Waterville, which is 40 minutes away, is a pretty town where we ate one night, at the Lion's Den Tavern - good food. The Lakewood Inn restaurant wasn't open when we were there.

What a GEM!!! We couldn’t find a single thing to complain about. Made our annual family trip to Maine so much more pleasant and relaxing. Will 100% be renting from Nick and Joshua every summer they’ll have us!
