Denton village is quiet with only 300 residents. It lies in the heart of rural East Anglia just 5 miles south of Bungay, a beautiful bustling Georgian town, with a market, deli, butcher, fishmonger and health food shop. Antiques are plentiful if that’s your thing. And there’s a castle! You will find great pubs and dining there, from pizzas to 3 course meals made with local produce and local beers. And an excellent coffee, bakery and lunch stop all in one - The Frontroom.
The walks out of the door are exceptional, with a fantastic ancient ring fort for Baron Bigod within walking distance.
Down the road, as you head for Bungay, is the award winning Flint Vineyard, where there are regular tours and tastings. Every month in the summer they put on a mini festival, with live music and delicious things to eat. Ampersand beers are produced on the same site, which are becoming ever more popular.
Just a 5 minute drive will take you to the award winning Fen Farm Dairy, where there’s a shop for their own Baron Bigod cheese, and other lovely locally produced treats.
If you feel like staying put, just a few doors down you’ll find the village hall, which becomes a very inexpensive and cheerful bar on Friday evenings, with an opportunity to meet the local people.
Best to have a car but there are taxis available from Diss for around £35
Ideal bicycle country!
