Opposite our property is a lovely open green space with a bandstand which hosts music and open air films in the Summer, as well as markets and other events. Behind this is the promenade on the top of the cliffs - part of the Viking Coastal Trail which runs from Canterbury round the coast to Minster. Down the steps or the slopes 50m from the front door, and you're on the sandy beach! Cliftonville has quieter beaches than Margate's Main Sands, and the oldest tidal pool in the UK is a few minutes stroll from your front door, meaning you can swim in open water any day of the year, whether the tide is in or out! Hodges Gap is a lovely quiet sandy bay with a cafe within a 10 minute walk along the beach.
Walk away from the sea, and you'll get to Northdown Road, which hosts some quirky independent businesses, cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. Well worth a stroll around.
A 15 minute walk along the sea front gets you to Margate's Old Town and the Turner Contemporary. Many more trendy, independent shops, bars and restaurants await your visit, as well as a number of galleries and art displays. Slightly further on and you'll find the Margate Arcades and Dreamland - fun for the whole family during the day, and hosting some amazing music concerts.
For more live music, we have The Albion Rooms two doors away. Owned by The Libertines, you can visit their bar and listen to live music or simply have a drink or two!
A slightly longer walk inland will allow you to explore the Margate Caves or the Shell Grotto.
Further afield and you can visit the Hornby Visitor Centre - a must for anyone who had a train set, Airfix, Corgi cars or Scalextric in their childhood! Shop at Westwood Cross, or visit the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum with their amazing Spitfire simulator. Visit Ramsgate harbour, or the beaches of Broadstairs, and try surfing or paddle-boarding at Joss bay.

There is free parking on the road at the front of the property, and on the surrounding streets. The Loop bus runs around the whole of Thanet regularly, and you can hop on and off a number of times to visit all the different sights. The bus stops a 5 minute walk from your front door. For those that enjoy walking or cycling, the coastal trail runs all the way to Ramsgate in one direction, and through Westgate and Broadstairs to the Reculver Towers and Roman Fort in the other direction.
