Wonderful stay! He is a WORKHORSE with a lovely rustic aesthetic in what he’s restored and built, and attentive yet discreet — always on call to appear out of the woods with the necessary minimalist supplies, which feel like luxuries, out on that timeless island, beamed in from a future century. You feel full solitude without ever feeling abandoned! Can swim even at lower tides. Very comfortable bed and linens, and especially nice pillows.

This place was what I was looking for. Simple, private, peaceful, comfortable and lots to explore. Joe was very attentive and got us to and from the cabin smoothly.

Don’t look any further if you want to get away from the hectic pace of a 24/7 wired life. No electricity or traditional plumbing. Outdoor rain fed shower. Outhouse. Peaceful, comfortable bed and linens, everything you need to grill. Ice and firewood on demand. 20 minute kayak / paddle from main dock. Great local grocery store with decent wine selection. Joe was there when you needed him, otherwise total privacy. Loved our week at Joes! We will definitely be back.

If we could move here… we would. Everything you need and nothing you don’t. If you have a boat, the dip net in Port Clyde is worth the trip! Skip Monhegan island unless you like tourists. Don’t be afraid of the seaweed or rocks on the beach directly in front of the cabin, there’s excellent wading during high and low tides. If you’re looking for peace and quiet away from it all while still being comfortably situated in a cozy cabin, this is your place! Honestly I hate to recommend it because we don’t want anyone else to know about it but, it’s just too perfect and Joe is a fabulous host. (Only downside: The squirrels stole our oyster knife, no joke)
