The jungle is spectacular, and if you love the outdoors this place is for you! We loved our stay. Its a beautiful location, that is peaceful and just magic. The staff were lovely and super helpful. The natural well water pool and boulders in it, were ace. And to be honest, we just loved all the wild life this place has to offer :)
Abflüsse sind verstopft, v.a.
Great place, the children loved it, exploring the gardens to see what wildlife they could find. Super responsive and genuinely caring host, supported by a great team that worked at the house. Nice restaurants a close walk by and a 15 min walk or a very cheap and short tuk tuk ride into town. Very highly recommended
If anyone is scrolling through the reviews here, just book this place! It’s exactly as portrayed in the lovely pictures and just one of the best Airbnbs we ever stayed at. Our personal recommendation: Ask Pushpa to cook some Sri Lankan dish for you! She‘s such a sweetheart and her cooking skills are 10/10!!! Thank you Piers for sharing this home with us and making us feel so welcome! Until we see you again next time!
RUMASSALA – THE MYTHICAL MOUNTAIN OF GALLE
In the past, Rumassala was known as Buona Vista, a name that dates back to the colonial period, and most likely a corruption of ‘Buena Vista', or Spanish for ‘pleasant view'. Rumassala hill offers what are arguably the best coastal views along the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The calm waters of Galle bay provided safe anchorage for numerous ships that plied the Indian Ocean maritime routes, transporting vast quantities of spices, minerals and precious stones. During this period, ships used the southern end of Rumassala known as Watering Point to take in fresh water before setting off on long voyages. Remnants of the old jetty can still be seen today, although it's now used by local children as a diving platform instead of a service point for ships.
Both the forests and the ocean around Rumassala are rich in biodiversity. The forest is home to many species of birds, reptiles and mammals including several endemic species, as well as rare medicinal plants. Groups of purple-faced leaf monkeys can be seen playing on the trees while white-bellied sea eagles soar above the water looking for a midday meal. At the base of the cliff and beneath the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean are coral and rocky reefs harbouring a wealth of marine biodiversity. Although the reef has been badly affected over the last decade by both human and natural causes it still provides interesting snorkelling for those who care to do a mask, fins and snorkel, and venture out to explore the underwater world. The entire Rumassala area including both the forest and coral reefs are now protected as a sanctuary due to its valuable biodiversity.
Local Attractions: Unawatuna is a charming town in southern Sri Lanka, renowned for its coral reef and palm-fringed beaches, including the popular Unawatuna Beach. The nearby Japanese Peace Pagoda, nestled in the jungle, offers a peaceful escape and breathtaking ocean vistas. If you're interested in conservation, don't miss the Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery, which plays a vital role in protecting endangered species. Across the bay lies the fortified old town of Galle Fort, a historic gem founded by the Portuguese and expanded by the Dutch in the 17th century.
Galle Fort (Sinhalese: ගාලු කොටුව Galu Kotuwa), in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka.
The fort has a colourful history, and today has a multi-ethnic and multi-religious population. The Sri Lankan government and many Dutch people who still own some of the properties inside the fort are looking at making this one of the modern wonders of the world. The heritage value of the fort has been recognised by UNESCO and the site has been inscribed as a cultural heritage UNESCO World Heritage Site under criteria iv, for its unique exposition of "an urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort or the "Ramparts of Galle", withstood the Boxing Day tsunami which damaged part of the coastal area of Galle town. It has been since restored.

自我介绍
I have lived and worked in Sri Lanka since January 2010, and our Son was born here soon after. The cultural and natural beauty of Sri Lanka, as well as its rich history, make it a captivating destination to explore. Rumassala, with its mythological connection to the Ramayana, adds a unique and mystical touch to the region. Galle, with its historic fort and charming streets, is a delightful place to explore. I am happy to call Sri Lanka home.
