Satterthwaite · 整套小木屋 · 3室4床2.0卫 · 可住6人 · Stylish Cosy Lodge in Grizedale Forest area
Fancy getting away from it all? Then you have found the right place. A little piece of paradise on earth with uninterrupted views of Grizedale woodland. I only book guests with previous good reviews (at least 2). No pets allowed. Maximum of 6 people (including infants). Please note the location is REMOTE, no shops are near (25 min drive to Co-op in Hawkshead), but there is a pub 5 min drive away in Satterthwaite. You are not far from Grizedale Centre, Coniston or Windermere. Fancy getting away from it all? Then you have found the right place. (be aware this locations is remote and not near any shops). A little piece of paradise on earth as our friends have described the lodge (only 4 lodges and only three sold at the moment, on this 4 acre site) with uninterrupted views of Grizedale Forest. It is a secluded place so if you are looking for something with shops on the doorstep this is not for you. The nearest pubs are a 5 min. drive away and you will need a car to access the lodge. I don't rent out to just males groups (I had too much trouble in the past). So please do not ask to book. And I don't rent out to under 27s. There is a fire safety policy is place, you will find all details in the lodge, pleae familiarise yourself with those. The living room, leads to a spacious decking with two chairs and a big sturdy picnic bench. Around the corner is another seating area with a bbq where you can enjoy complete privacy and not be seen by anybody else to enjoy the evening sun. There is a fully equipped kitchen. The lodge has three bedrooms, a big master bedroom with its own en-suite. Another double bedroom and a twin room who both have access to a seperate bathroom, with both a shower and bath. In addition there is a laundry room (with dryer and washing machine) and a very generous booth/cloack room. Bath towels and bed linen is provided for your stay. There are two public footpaths leading past the lodge (with hardly any walkers passing through), so you don't need to get into a car to start your walk into Grizedale Forest and the surrounding areas. Sattertwhaite is the nearest village with its own pub, the Eagles head. You can walk there in half an hour, using the footpath past force forge (water)fall. You can drive in 10 minutes to the Manor House at Oxen Park. The Swan in Newby Bridge is excellent for food as well and only a 30 minute drive away. The Manor House in Oxen Park also does excellent food. 2.5 miles north of the lodge is Grizedale visitor centre, with its numerous walking & cycling trails and Go Ape adventures. The popular Lakeland village of Hawkshead is only 5 miles away. Positioned between Coniston Water and Windermere, Hawkshead is arguably the quaintest location in the lakes, with white washed cottages dating back to the 16th century, charming old pubs and tea shops along narrow traffic-free streets. Here you will also find a well stocked CO-OP, where you can buy most of your day to day groceries (it's a 30 minute drive in the car to the co-op). There is a Booths grocery store in the market town of Ulverston which is just over half an hours drive away! Booths is a more upmarket store, also stocking local produce. 9 miles West of the lodge is Coniston, situated on lake Coniston. The delightful village of Coniston nestles at the foot of the famous Coniston Old Man fell. A popular centre for walkers, climbers and cyclists, the area is also well known for Coniston Water; setting for the famous children’s story, Swallows and Amazons. You can hire rowing boats, electric boats, kayaks and dinghies from Coniston Boating Centre on the lakeshore. 10 miles north from the lodge is Ambleside with its many shops and fantastic atmosphere and just south from Ambleside you can visit Windermere and take the ferry back to Far Sawry, which is only 4 miles from the Lodge this way!!! It's best to get around by car in the Lake District. You can easily drive to Far Sawry and take the ferry to Windermere. Please check online whether the ferry is in operation.
We were absolutely delighted with the lodge, the location is stunning and for us being so close to Grizedale really topped it off. Marianne was extremely helpful, extremely flexible and our 3 night stay was brilliant. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, we will most certainly be back!
The Lodge is remote, nearest shop is half an hours drive away.
Force Mill lies between Coniston Water and Windermere on the southern edge of the Grizedale Forest, a couple of miles from the village of Satterthwaite, all in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Force forge lodge is one of 4 lodges (only 3 occupied). The lodges are located quite close together in a 4 acre plot of unspoilt land, filled with trees and grass.
The best way to get around is by car.
Ample car parking on the stony area by the top of the lodge (2 cars) and more carparking by the bins.

HI I am a Photographer and I love travelling. Our family lived in India for three years recently, so you will see loads of little Indian touches in our Lodge. I love browsing through photography books! And I love reading novels in English and Dutch as I was born near Maastricht in the Netherlands. We would love to welcome you to our lodge, where you can get away from everyday life and completely relax and enjoy the sound of silence.
