Set on Harkers Island we were near the Island Express Ferry Service located by the National Park Service museum and shop. We especially enjoyed taking the Ferry over to see the Cape Lookout Lighthouse & stayed on East Shackleford Banks where we rented a UTV. This was one of the highlights of our trip. (Reservations required). We needed a Pet friendly home and Sherry and Kim's home was perfect ! It has a fenced in dog yard where we and dogs could play. It was an easy drive to visit friends near Beufort and enjoy Morehead City.

The house had fixable issues. Dishwasher broke, pots and pans were old and not in great shape. Kayaks needed repair and cleaning to be usable and lightning struck a nearby pole rending half the outlets unusable. Still don’t understand how the electric recliners work without adding an extension cord . The toilet in the master stopped up. The dryer needs cleaned. Thats the bad. However, Kim was very responsive. We got a new dishwasher and new pots and pans while we were still there. An electrician came out the next morning after the lightning strike. This house isn’t bad, just needs some tlc. Owners are coming down this weekend for a deep clean/repair which is great moving forward, but our experience was just ok. There’s a large orange workshop directly behind the house which messes up an otherwise nice view. We didn’t have a great experience here, but Kim worked very hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

Sherry and Kim are wonderful hosts. Lots of towels, sheets, etc. Having coffee available was a treat. This house really felt like home. We also enjoyed having premium streaming channels to watch on the TV.
