The old plantation cottages in Pahala are great. You can really slow down and relax there.

Meine Bewertung ist bestimmt sehr subjektiv. Aber: unser Aufenthalt in Pahala wurde von uns komplett negativ wahrgenommen, weil wir am Tag und leider auch in der Nacht ständigem Hundegebell vieler Hunde und dem Krähen von noch mehr Hähnen ausgesetzt waren. Wir haben uns aus den genannten Gründen auch nicht auf die Veranda neben der Küche getraut und haben versucht möglichst selten am oder im Haus zu sein. Die im Haus bereitliegenden Ohrstöpsel sind keine Lösung für mehrere Stunden in der Nacht. Außerdem unterhalten wir uns tagsüber gern, da wären Ohrstöpsel auch eher störend. Uns gefällt Big Island sehr, aber diese Unterkunft mit den schrecklichen Tiergeräuschen werden wir in Zukunft sicherlich meiden.

This is a rural part of the island, and the host communicated the surrounding amenities so I was well prepared. Great price for the stay. spacious two bedroom house, enough to sleep 5 people. and a functional kitchen. Very close to the Black Sand Beach!

We enjoyed our stay at Julia's place very much. She was very friendly and also quite knowledgeable of the history of the area. The house is quite large and comfortable. Some of the windows were hard to close completely and not all the venetian blinds worked properly. There were a crazy amount of roosters in the neighborhood, but all the previous reviews mentioned that and we came prepared. There were also some very loud neighborhood dogs. BTW, this seems to be a thing with the whole town of Pahala, and not particular to Julia's location. But the friendliness of Julia and charm of the place more than made up for it, and we managed to have a good night's sleep nevertheless.
